APS Non-juried Exhibitions –Responsibilities and Requirements
(Artists must check the information for each show as Gallery requirements may vary.)
Exhibiting artists must be current members of the Appalachian Pastel Society.
Artwork exhibited must be Original (no giclees or other reproductions.)
Artwork must be properly framed, with frames in good condition. Mats are not required.
Artwork must be finished on the back in a professional manner. No saw tooth hangers are permitted. Hanging wire must be secure.
The Gallery may impose size limits. The artist is responsible for checking specific requirements for each show.
The Gallery has the right to refuse any painting for any reason; including work that does not reflect the quality of the overall show.
Participants are required to deliver their own paintings to the show (or to make arrangements to have them delivered) on the date and during the time frame specified.
Participants are required to pick up their own paintings (or make arrangements to have them picked up) at the end of the show on the date and during the time frame specified. The Gallery has no obligation to store works not picked up on time. After 30 days, unclaimed work becomes the property of APS.
If a painting sells prior to the end of the show, the Gallery may require that it hang until the end of the show. If the Gallery permits the painting to be removed, the artist may replace it with another of the same size and quality.
Each painting exhibited must include a label on the back that lists:
- The Title
- The painting’s dimensions –unframed and as framed.
- The price.
- The Artist’s Name.
- The Artist’s phone number.
This information (above) must also be provided to the show manager as stated on the prospectus.
Exhibiting artists will be required to have signed an APS Non-juried Exhibition Notice of Liability Disclaimer. The exhibition venue may require additional contractual or liability documentation.
APS will collect a $10 entry fee when the paintings are delivered.
Exhibiting artists are encouraged to attend the Opening Reception and may be asked to contribute refreshments.
A Notebook of Artist’s Biographies may be available for Gallery patrons. It is highly recommended that exhibiting artists periodically review and update the information included.
